We heed the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, to send out laborers into his harvest” (Luke 10:1-2). It is our mission to create an atmosphere of vocation awareness by catechizing the parish faithful on what it means to serve the church through a religious calling. In recognizing that God, in His providence, is calling men and women from our parish family to serve Him in a religious vocation, we endeavor and commit to support those He has called through prayer, encouragement, and service.

As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and others to religious life. Some remain as generous single people. Fully living our vocations and teaching young people how to discern God's call is a serious duty, but also a joyful one. During this week, please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more deeply. Encourage the young people in your life - children, grandchildren, students, and friends - to be open if God calls them to priesthood or consecrated life.
FISH (Families Inviting Seminarians Home) was started several years ago at St. Peter Parish with the intention of giving seminarians at St. Joseph Seminary College an opportunity to get away from the seminary periodically and enjoy a little bit of "home away from home."

Reverend Fr. Jeffrey Montz, a priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and well known to our parish family here at St. Peter, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent a procedure in late July. Please keep Fr. Jeffrey, his family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time.

Jesus challenged the rich young man and in him all of us with these daunting words: "Come, follow me" (Mt 19:21). Jesus also reminds us: "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master; it is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master" (Mt 10:24-25). Following Jesus means becoming self-sacrificing love poured out for others. It is only in this way that we can truly say with St. Paul, "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me" (Gal 2:20).
